I needed to add a udev rules file (/etc/udev/rules.d/99-hauppage.rules ) with this: SUBSYSTEM=="usb",ATTRS{idVendor}=="2040", ATTRS{idProduct}=="7200", MODE="0666" Such rules should be automatically added. The above worked for me but I didn' t research if there was a better way to acocmplish this.
