Edin, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3662#bios an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A04). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?
If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-04 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1460214 Title: touchpad not detected Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Netbook Gigabyte M1005 Touchpad manufacturer: Elantech (Elan Microelectronics)... apparently Device not found when executing cat /proc/bus/input/devices ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: linux-image-3.19.0-16-generic 3.19.0-16.16 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.19.0-16.16-generic 3.19.3 Uname: Linux 3.19.0-16-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.17.2-0ubuntu1.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: edino 1643 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat May 30 00:14:11 2015 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=2f78407b-1e29-465a-8be1-7f1d4d22bd0b InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-05-17 (12 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) MachineType: GIGABYTE M1005 ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.19.0-16-generic root=UUID=176725c4-1cb8-42e2-8c19-fe92113a2b62 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.19.0-16-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.19.0-16-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.143 SourcePackage: linux UdevLog: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/log/udev' UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 08/30/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: GIGABYTE dmi.bios.version: F03 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: M1005 dmi.board.vendor: GIGABYTE dmi.board.version: Base Board Version dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Chassis Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 1 dmi.chassis.vendor: Chassis Manufacturer dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnGIGABYTE:bvrF03:bd08/30/2010:svnGIGABYTE:pnM1005:pvrF03:rvnGIGABYTE:rnM1005:rvrBaseBoardVersion:cvnChassisManufacturer:ct1:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: M1005 dmi.product.version: F03 dmi.sys.vendor: GIGABYTE To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1460214/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
