This issue seems to be a regression since I don't see it in the Ubuntu 14.04.2 GA release. The installation method use was a VIOS Virtual DVD loaded with the Ubuntu 14.04.2 ISO from June 3rd. I'll attach below the error that shows up in the middle of the installation, it doesn't seem to be related to any particular activity being performed by the user during the installation, it just randomly happens after some time.
