I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04.3 on my ASUS K501UX-AH71.
Everything seems to be working fine, although a little buggy now and
then. The main problem now is that the touchpad is not being recognized
and is does not appear in /proc/bus/input/devices. External mice
function fine.
Reloading the mouse drive like below does not work:
sudo modprobe -r psmouse
sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps
