Hi, Here is the AR928X network adapter I bought in April of 2015 from ThinkPenguin.com:
https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/penguin-wireless-n-pcie-card-gnu- linux-v4-tpe-n300pcie4 It says it works with Ubuntu 16.04, as well as Linux kernels 2.6.29 and newer. The best I had with it were very intermittent, spotty connections to the Internet, and often not even to my router. I've since gone back and done a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04.1, and my Internet is working great now. Upon further inquiries on AskUbuntu.com, someone suggested that the problem had something to do with the newer Linux kernel being used in newer Ubuntu versions. Ubuntu 14.04.1 comes with kernel 3.13. Updating my system through Software Updater automatically brought me up to 14.04.4, but thankfully keeps kernel 3.13 if you started with 14.04.1. Although I'd love to use Ubuntu 16.04, I don't want to install anything newer than 14.04.4 unless I know that my WiFi adapter is supported. I hope that will be sooner than later. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1586875 Title: Support for Qualcomm Atheros AR928X WiFi chipset Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hello, A number of other Ubuntu users and myself have encountered difficulty when upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS due to our WiFi chipset not being supported. When I inquired about it on the Ubuntu Forums, I was informed that this chipset was last known to work on Ubuntu 14.04.3, and no longer in Ubuntu 14.04.4. I had bought this network adapter about a year ago from a Linux- friendly retailer specifically because it said it would work harmoniously with Ubuntu. But because it is not supported in 16.04, I am left without Internet access on my desktop, which I require for work and for pleasure. Unfortunately, connecting to my router with an Ethernet cord is not an option, as the distance is too great and awkward. In the meantime, I will have to revert to Ubuntu 14.04.3 to hopefully get Internet on my computer. I hope this will be resolved soon. I'd really like to continue using the latest Ubuntu versions.
