Title: b43xx wireless driver not packaged in release Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: in ubuntu 15.10 and lubuntu 15.10 i have a b4318 wireless chipset which does not work out of the box, even though the b43-fwcutter package is included in the release, the firmware-b43-installer and the legacy package are not included, which from my understanding are needed by b43-fwcutter to actualy install the correct firmware. the result is an error while booting up saying couldnt load kernel module or something, telling you to go to a website (wireless.kernel or something similar) and download the correct driver for your firmware, which is misleading, as all you need is the firmware-b43-installer or legacy package to make the wireless work. Including this in the official releases would be great, and/or changing the error message to suggest installing those packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1534095/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
