This does _not_ happen with my Cannon PowerShot S3IS, nor has it happened with any of the USB sticks that I've used on this computer.

I have never had a system freeze when I haven't had my phone plugged into USB during that session. I _have_ had numerous freezes otherwise. I also know of one other Ubuntu user in the Portland, Oregon area who is suffering similar problems. My typical work is to plug in, unmount the Verizon "CD", mount the camera, navigate to the movie folder, copy some files over to my hard drive (NOT move -- I'll explain in a bit), erase the files, unmount (or not) and unplug. I have had crashes happen at any point in the above process (it's happened once during a file move; all my pictures were erased on the camera and zero-length on this machine -- I don't move any more -- I copy and then delete). Sometimes the system just freezes. Sometimes I get the Red Linux Blink of Death on my keyboard. So, dunno what's going on other than it no work right. This does not seem to be generating automagic bug reports, so there may be many more people than me seeing it, and silently suffering.
