I've marked it as Invalid, as there's nothing to be done at this point.
But, there may still be some bug here. After all, how did this happen in
the first place? That may have been user error, or it may not have. But,
at this point, it likely doesn't matter. If we see more, similar
reports, or if something is reproducible, then we can go from there.

Unmounting zpool entirely shows the folder is indeed empty.
Running apt-get -f upgrade with the pool entirely unmounted returns
the same result. (The zpool is successfully mounted though, including
the supposed failed directory.)
