Title:
I/O Errors on eMMC Drives during Ubuntu Install

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
While attempting to install ubuntu server (16.04.1) on an Intel Atom
based SoM with integrated eMMC flash for onboard storage (4GB samsung
flash chip), the install fails towards the end of the package install
section due to I/O errors by the kernel. Error are similar to the one
  below:

Buffer I/O error on dev mmcblk0p2, logical block 9914, lost async page
  write

Obviously I can't produce a log of the exact output since the I/O
error prevents the log from being written. I can take a screenshot if
  that would be helpful.
