Has this been fixed or is there a documented workaround? I am still seeing this in 16.04.

But mostly (not always) it won't resume but stops after mounting root and swap. On console (without quiet and usplash parameters) the last message is "suspending console(s) (use no_console_suspend to debug)" I will try the proposed parameter and add the output from console here soon.
