Thanks. System has been working normally since reporting this bug, without further prompts to report a system problem.
According to man apt-get, sudo apt-get install -f is the same as the sudo apt --fix-broken install that I have already ran. I ran the sudo apt-get clean and sudo apt-get update commands that you described, followed by sudo apt-get upgrade. One new package version was detected and installed, so my system seems to be OK now. Rebooted, ignored prompt to report system problem, and ran sudo apt-get upgrade. Was advised to run sudo dpkg --configure -a Did that and ran sudo apt-get upgrade again. Was advised packages had unmet dependencies and to run sudo apt --fix-broken install Did that and ran sudo apt-get upgrade again. Packages were downloaded and installed. Ran ldconfig and sudo ldconfig just in case it was necessary. Rebooted and was prompted again to report system problem, so I am doing so now.
