This is the most heavily loaded configuration I use with this device and
I don't have issues with either an NVMe SSD or GPU. No hardware-related
issues with any USB devices (data goes through PCIe in the end).

Maybe I should swap this card out for something else like Intel 8260 or
an upcoming 9260 to test out whether this is a PCIe issue but I don't
think it is.
Found this unanswered thread at infradead with the exact same hardware but a
different PCIe setup:

Title:
Kernel Call Trace After Disabling an ath10k Wireless Device (Atheros
QCA6174 802.11ac (rev 32))
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Disabled a wireless adapter via NetworkManager. Got a kernel trace in
dmesg.
3b:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless
Network Adapter (rev 32)
uname -r
4.10.0-9-generic
https://paste.ubuntu.com/24131142/
There are also usb hot-plug messages in between ath10k related ones -
this is because I disabled a wireless adapter and immediately plugged
in a usb type-c dock so don't mind those.
