Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade?  Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.14 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Title:
  Very slow display on Legacy mode, but it's normal on UEFI mode

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  When I start boot into OS in text mode with BIOS Legacy mode,it is
  very slow display for example do type cmd: cat /proc/cpuinfo ,but I
  had tried add a GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=”vga=normal” in /etc/default/grub.
  It can be normal display

  
  My config on the server :
  OS ver:Ubuntu 16.04.x
  VGA: onboard AST2x00 w/o install expansion vga card
