Title:
include the OpenNSL GPL modules with the Kernel in Bionic

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Please include the OpenNSL GPL modules with the Kernel.
These modules
  are located at https://github.com/Broadcom-Switch/OpenNSL.
The latest
  SDK version is 6.5.12.

We would like to have the kernel modules included with the LTS Bionic
kernel so that we can provide these modules to network vendors so that
they don't have to compile them and taint our working kernel.
We would
want to manage these modules so that we can perform updates and
security fixes to the kernel and even use kernel-livepatch with these
  devices.

Currently, Network vendors compile and build these against older
kernel's and then they cannot be patched or updated leaving network
devices vulnerable to security threats that normally would be patched
by our systems. By having us manage these modules, we can maintain
security and compatibility with the kernel and the network vendors can
use our native kernel with their software.

The three modules that get built are linux-kernel-bde.ko, linux-user-bde,ko
and linux-bcm-knet.ko.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

These modules are included in the Xenial LTS kernel (4.4).
