Title: package linux-image-4.8.0-56-generic (not installed) failed - even after "sudo apt-get update AND sudi apt-get upgrade"manually to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 128 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: package updates continue to stall during installation, orange progress bar stops mid way or at end. I then successfully updated and upgraded with.... sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade as suggested at https://askubuntu.com/questions/927725/updates-wont-install-software-center-stuck/927727 this appeared to successfully update and upgrade OS.
