No nvidia module is loaded. Manually loading the module results in: me@mysys /home/me $ sudo modprobe nvidia modprobe: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod-module.c:832 kmod_module_insert_module() could not find module by name='nvidia_384' modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'nvidia_384': Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) me@mysys /home/me $ The weird thing: there is nothing in dmesg and nothing in syslog.
