Apparently, suspend/hibernate succeed partially only, so that it cannot resume. The latest kernel where suspend/hibernate work is 3.17, which however has problems with touchpad. That is, I use 3.16.57. From 3.18 and all later kernels suspend/hibernate does not work. It does not help: - to change /etc/default/grup adding RESUME=UUID=<uuid of swap> or nouveau.modeset=0 to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX. - to enable hibernate in /var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/10-vendor.d/com.ubuntu.desktop.pkla. - to use Feng's fixed kernel. (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1774950/comments/61). - /sys/power/ files seems to be alright: cat disk mem_sleep state [platform] shutdown reboot suspend test_resume s2idle [deep] freeze mem disk https://askubuntu.com/questions/1029474/ubuntu-18-04-dell-xps13-9370-no-longer-suspends-on-lid-close/1044270#1044270 - busctl call org.freedesktop.login1 /org/freedesktop/login1 org.freedesktop.login1.Manager CanSuspend: s "yes" If anyone want additional information, just let me know.
