Updated to 4.19-rc7 (uname -r = `4.19.0-041900rc7-generic`) with 'Ubuntu Kernel Update Utility'. Without any boot parameters, brightness still doesn't function (but UI shows it changing).
Are there any other things you want me to try on this kernel?
