We have this problem for a long, long time now. I supposed a hardware fault but changed motherboard, graphics card, memtest my ram, etc. I send this bug report because I think that is a kernel/software problem. This must take in caution but I believe that I had this problem since 14.04. By the way, I installed a clean 16.04 release some months ago.
Maybe an important point is that some days before system crash, I start to see problems with window manager, maybe compiz related. Windows isn't refreshing accordingly. ok.
