I have the same problem. A kernel update in October screwed up the wireless card. When I boot the laptop ( HP 655 Ubuntu certified) I can choose which kernel I want to use. I choose for 3.2.0-32. It was installed when i bought the notebook.
3.2.0-55 and 3.2.0-56 kernels both screw the wireless driver or card up. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-certification/+question/238136 In this tread there is some additional information from myself and someone else. Personally I am not going to try the newest kernel. I wnat my card to work with the kernel that is installed by the update-manager. I bought this notebook especially because it has ubuntu certification but it is not working properly. A shame if you ask me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243693 Title: RT3290 12.04 new kernel Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The problem dates on 22. oct 2013 Linux Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 Bit - Update to Kernel 3.2.0-55 - rebboot and WLAN function gone the last Kernel 3.2.0-54 was no problem with the Ralink Corp RT3290 Wireless 802.11 n lspci still shows the chip iwconfig shows no wireless extentions The Ralink is in many HP Notebooks like the HP 655 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1243693/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
