Can you check bug 1813663 to confirm that this isn't the kernel issue reported there? I know you said that going back a version of linux- firmware and not the kernel fixes the issue for you, but that problem broke docking stations badly and is in about the same time frame, so I want to double check. Because as far as I've been able to tell so far the updates in linux-firmware 1.173.3 should not have affected your laptop.
