tremby, as per
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/latitude-e4300 an update
is available for your BIOS (A24). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it
doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and just provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
[Dell Latitude E4300] Total system lockup on power cable
  connect/disconnect

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I've had this issue for six months or more, though it is fairly
infrequent. My laptop (Dell Latitude E4300) will lock up entirely
(keyboard and mouse not functioning, not responding to pings or sshd,
I'm left with whatever image was last on the screen, frozen) sometimes
when the power cable is plugged in or unplugged. I'd say it's maybe 1
in 15 times, but today it happened twice in a row and so it's finally
time to try to solve it. I have to hold down the power button to power
down and reboot when this happens, sometimes losing some work.

I'm not sure if my kern.log is being uploaded with this (I'll add it
afterwards if I don't see it) but the last two restarts were both
manual because of such lockups. I don't see any useful errors before
the first [0.00000] lines (May 4, 17:25:41 and 17:27:12), though.

I googled around and one suggestion was to remove the jupiter package.
That was not installed. I'm not sure where to go from here given that
there's nothing useful I can find in the error logs.
