(Note: upgrade today from 19.04, which also froze randomly)

Kernel MMIO FAULT errors being seen in syslog; such as:

ch 6 [0006b000 gnome-shell[1987]] subc 7 class 4497 mthd 0208 data 04000248

Seeing some of these while system operating 'normally' but when
systems freezes needing hard reboot there is generally one or more
  MMIO Fault message just prior.

No obvious correlation between activity/application in use crash.
Latest instance, after 19.10 upgrade was system freeze on initial
opening of Mozilla Thunderbird. Thunderbird then opened fine after
  reboot.
