ok... so figured I should test the latest version of the nvidia drivers (ie 440)... sadly, I'm having the same result (expect, but this might be an illusion) I got the feeling the screen looks even better than before
any thoughts on this ? ** Package changed: nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 (Ubuntu) => nvidia- graphics-drivers-440 (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1860786 Title: NVidia GTX 1650 -- impossible to set proper screen resolution for external screens Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-440 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hi So we got Dell XPS15 laptops for our dev team. That comes with a marvelous 4K screen powered by a Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU and we installed Ubuntu 19.10 on them. Everything works well, except when we connect our, older, HD monitors (HDMI, DP, Dock... doesn't change anything). It appears the scale setting (I think this managed by xrandr) is not applied... Therefore, unless I put my 4K screen in HD resolution, which sucks, the resolution sent out to the external screens is 4K as well instead of HD (1920x1080). When using the Nouveau driver instead of the Nvidia one, it does work as expected... But, as one can imagine, it's, by far, less performant and good looking. So I'm wondering if any work is being done on this....
