Hi! I just wanted to say that I had this problem and also I was unable to use an external monitor connected via HDMI even using nouveau. So I switched to version 340 driver and that caused some apt errors about nvidia-340-* and nvidia-driver-390-* (some dependency conflict with nvidia-340 files when installing 390) and made my system completely unbootable with some LVM mounting errors. But after restoring it back using "LC_MESSAGES=C dpkg-divert --list '*nvidia-340*' | sed -nre 's/^diversion of (.*) to .*/\1/p' | xargs -rd'\n' -n1 -- sudo dpkg- divert --remove" I realized my external monitor started to work with version 390. Also, WebKit is not crashing anymore! I don't know how to explain it.
