Title:
Xubuntu groovy QA-test install, strange behavior first boot
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Xubuntu groovy QA-test install on
sony vaio svp112a1cw (i5-9400u, 4gb, intel haswell-ULT)
(no internet connected)
this contains two issues.
(1) Bootloader error post-install
"System Bootloader not found. Initializing defaults"
"Creating Boot Entry BOOT0000..."
(2) Strange behavior with Xubuntu's greeter/DM login
** edited ISO.qa.ubuntu report
On first reboot, bootup is not as expected.
First message is at least two lines, first being
"System Bootloader not found. Initializing defaults"
"Creating Boot Entry BOOT0000..."
Second line relates to the reconstruction of bootloader but it's too
quick for me to recall/type..
This is followed by of flashing between FSCK like screen & VAIO logo,
many times and looks like it's having issues, or a 'fight'?
once DM/greeter appears, the session is as expected. ctrl+alt+T and
terminal & all disk space utilized and system looks as expected,
install appears good now.
On second boot, the "System Bootloader not found... (error continues
again I'm not quick enough)" but it's NOT followed by he flashing
FSCK/VAIO screen this time..
DM/greeter has appeared, HOWEVER no background logo, characters at top
are just BOXES. Once I'm logged in all looks good though again??!!
Third boot and different behavior again, more normal than 2nd time...
but 3 boots have resulted in 3 different behaviors at the greeter/DM &
not what I except from a Xubuntu install.
Fourth boot, and back to black screen at greeter/DM, BOXES instead of
charaters again in the top panel... This issue has to be related to
Xubuntu software and not installer is my feeling
** Expected Results
(1) No boot loader error messages are expected
(2) Consistent greeter, with background, and letters in the top panel
(not boxes). Once logged in session is good, this is a Xubuntu issue.
