The issue has been addressed upstream with commit: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/386e15a650447f53de3d2d8819ce9393f31650a4 Apparently the dock kept sending altmode information repeatedly, and the kernel did not expect this to happen, a check was added to make sure it only observes the amount of altmodes limited by the standard.
