I reinstalled the system with a clean new 20.04.1 LTS (hard drive
replacement for a SSD) and everything works fine now with 455 driver.
My configuration must have been screwed somehow but it escapes me where
about.
I won't be needing anymore support so thanks for the ticket. If you need
anything else from me please let me know.

Title:
Boot failure (black screen) when Nvidia GPU is enabled

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete
Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-455 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have a lenovo ideapad 330 with and intel and a nvidia card geforce1050. The
nvidia driver was not used, no nvidia files in /dev, no output on nvidia-smi.
The logs that you seee are from a boot with the intel GPU only otherwise I
cannot boot to xorg by deselecting software chooses GPU on Bios. If I go to
recovery mode a go into CLI I can see the card detected in ubuntu-devices and
nvidia-smi. If I continue the boot process from there I get a black screen and
gets stuck there. No splash screen. Black.
When the boot process freezes I can still switch Caps lock and Num lock so it
is not completely dead but I left it for 30 minutes and it doesn't move. The
dots in the spash screen (plymouth) stop after a minute and that's it.
This behaviour was happening with 20.04 LTS so I upgraded to the new gorilla
thing one and no changes except that pulseaudio now crashes and there is no
sound input or output.
1 last point, I do not see any drivers in Additional drivers in the software
center when I get to boot to xorg succesfully with Intel only GPU.
