to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.13 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as

Title:
Broadcom cardreader cant format/write Image to SdCards

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Description:

It is impossible to either format a sdcard or write an image to it with dd or
other tools. While formating (either with palimpsest, gparted or mkfs) the
process just hangs without explicit errors. the dmesg shows the below listed
errors.
Just using palimpsest under 13.10 gives the below listed error.

Its is possible to read from the card though and it is possible to write
files <350 mb to the sd card. i used and cross checked four different sd cards
which all worked nice on other systems.
The problem persists using the freshest kernel available, i tested it with
14.04 daily and arch live.

Another interesting fact is tha Ubuntu seems not to be able to load the
relevant Firmware while booting up:
  Failed to load firmware "tigon/tg357766.bin"
I already asked Broadcom for a firmware/driver for this netXtreme combo
lan-sdcardreader chip, but they replied that they are not supporting Linux,
although they have a driver downloadable for Linux at their Website.

  Patch:

I found this patch which may be related/ be a solution for this Problem. But
i dont know if this Patch is applieable against a actual Kernel, and i dont
know how to use it in general.
