Public bug reported: I recently upgraded my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 3rd Gen from 16.04 to 20.04, and after returning to my office I found that my external dock no longer picks up the ethernet. The lights no longer light up on the port and no network connection is made. I can still use my Thinkpad's built- in ethernet which requires a cable adapter.
See CurrentDmesg.txt starting with the line "[120721.341601] thinkpad_acpi: docked into hotplug port replicator". The problem appears similar to bug 1712218, but with slightly different hardware.
