Title:
  Asus G732LWS | ALC294 | Speakers don't work on 20.04 or 20.10

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Asus G732LWS-DS76
  Realtek ALC294 (Intel HDA Audio)
  Xubuntu 20.04 with kernel 5.4.0-58-generic

No sound from speakers even though it shows in pavucontrol.
For some reason the sound gets redirected to the internal mic (when I play
music there is no sound from speakers, but when I open Audacity and start
recording it records a song playing).

  I tried:
  alc294-sound-patch.fw from https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206589
    No effect
  "options snd-hda-intel model=asus-zenbook" in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Speakers start working, but it is impossible to control the volume, they're
eithher ON (100%) or OFF (Muted)

I tried different kernels and sidtributions to localize the problem:
  Doesn't work
    Xubuntu 20.04 | 5.4.0-58-generic
    Xubuntu 20.04 | 5.4.0-54-generic
    Xubuntu 20.04 | 5.4.0-48-generic
    Xubuntu 20.10 | 5.8.0-25-generic
    Fedora 33 | 5.8.15-301.fc33.x86_64
    Manjaro 20.2 | 5.9.11-3-MANJARO
  WORKS
    Xubuntu 20.04 | 5.4.0-42-generic

It appears that it is a kernel problem and something broke between
  5.4.0-42-generic and 5.4.0-48-generic.
