Experiencing the same problem after upgrade to Impish. I have determined
that the desktop does actually start after a resume from suspend, but
the screen remains blank, with the backlight on. (To determine this, I
used a keyboard shortcut to launch a terminal window and typed a reboot
command successfully.)

Everything in the kernel log seemed normal for the interval around the
suspend/restore (although there's so much stuff there, it's hard to be
sure.)

The screen does come on OK after a full reboot.

As with the OP, suspend/restore is OK if I back off to using the 5.11
kernel. Also as for the OP, my system is using the amdgpu driver.
