Public bug reported: The package description and sections for edge and non-edge variants is the same.
In the kernel meta packages we should be able to do something better. For example include a trailer explanation in the description that whenever a variant is "-edge" it is preview kernel, for the upcoming change of the non-edge variant, and that it is a non production kernel, meant to be used for early testing for the upcoming changes that are about to happen to the non-edge variant. Also potentially point out that it receives non-timely security support without SLAs. We also can make use of split publishing of binaries. src:linux-meta* can produce most binaries into main, but it can publish "-edge" binaries to universe. We could for example mark out 'Sections' in the control file with "universe/kernel". ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-meta in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1964467 Title: edge variants are not obvious Status in linux-meta package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The package description and sections for edge and non-edge variants is the same.
