Testing a clone of this Xubuntu instance on an Intel CPU (Celeron G1620 and
Core i5 8265U) showed that the problem does not occur there. So the
5.15.0-47.51-generic kernel booting problem only occurs on an AMD CPU (Ryzen 9
3900XT).
To determine whether the problem is in the kernel itself or in the (my?)
userland I tested this kernel with an other userland (a slackware-based live
CD): the problem does not occur there. So the problem is likely to be in the
(my?) userland.
Today I installed the 5.15.0-48-generic kernel. And lo and behold: the problem
does not occur on my AMD box (Ryzen 9 3900XT) nor on my Intel laptop (Core i5
8265U)! So the problem was something in the kernel responding badly to
something in the (my?) userland.
