I've installed the latest upstream kernel on the Chromebook (v3.13.6-031306-generic). Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem with the touchpad. I've attached updated debugging info for the new kernel.
In case it's relevant, I'll also mention that after installing the new kernel I see the message "[ 1.834054] usb 2-4: string descriptor 0 malformed (err = -61), defaulting to 0x0409" when the machine boots. Thanks! ** Attachment added: "debug_info-3.13.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1290396/+attachment/4020186/+files/debug_info-3.13.txt ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1290396 Title: Touchpad not detected on Dell Chromebook 11 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The up-to-date Xubuntu 13.10 install on my Dell Chromebook 11 does not detect the laptop's touchpad. The kernel is 3.11.0-18-generic. A USB mouse works under Xubuntu when connected, and the touchpad works under ChromeOS. I also tried the trackpad under Ubuntu 14.04 beta 2 and it did not work. (Note the following debugging information is for the aforementioned 13.10 install.) If anyone would like me to update the kernel and test again I'd be happy to do so. Apologies if this is essentially a duplicate of any of the non-Dell Chromebook touchpad bug reports. $ cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 3.11.0-18.32-generic 3.11.10.4 Output from 'lspci', 'dmesg', and /proc/bus/input/devices and /var/log/Xorg.0.log is attached.
