Public bug reported: [Impact] The dp-mst function is working fine when connecting >2 external monitors via docking station to the system. But the monitors will fail to display after re-plug the docking station. The monitors are detected w/o problem but fail to light up.
[Fix] Backport one patch from upstream which fix dp-mst. [Test] Booting up the system and connect 2 (or more) external monitors to the docking station and then connect it to the system. Make sure dp-mst function is working OK on monitors. Re-plug the docking station and make sure the external monitors still display correctly. [Where problems could occur] It fixes the MST payload error in kernel `[drm] *ERROR* Step 2 of creating MST payload for 00000000a06fb4a4 failed: -5`. It's gone after applying the fix. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Affects: linux-oem-6.1 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: linux-oem-6.1 (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: In Progress ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-oem-6.1 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: linux-oem-6.1 (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2012382 Title: Fix dp-mst failure after re-plug the dock with 2 external monitor connected Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in linux-oem-6.1 package in Ubuntu: New Status in linux source package in Jammy: Invalid Status in linux-oem-6.1 source package in Jammy: In Progress Bug description: [Impact] The dp-mst function is working fine when connecting >2 external monitors via docking station to the system.
