The issue persists using kernel 5.15.0-76, unfortunately, the console remains blank, no panic message is printed but the machine stays on (power light stays on) and is unresponsive. Holding down the power button is the only action possible.
Could not find anything in the log files, looks like the machine totally locks up now rather than having a panic.
