If the new linux image got properly installed, it should have added a new entry in GRUB to boot that kernel (it will probably be placed inside an "Advanced options" submenu)
I expect it will at least work before starting wayland, and it will detect and list the monitor. Screen and HDMI cable worked with the previous computer HP 17-p128nf, and work actually on Windows 11 (dualboot). Seems to be a Linux problem.
