It appears the kernel isn't waking up at all. Next time it happens, try
pressing keys on the keyboard or briefly tapping the power button. Often
those are more reliable at waking a machine than the lid switch.

  Hi,

  the display of my Lenovo laptop normally wakes up after suspend mode
  (lifting the lid).

  Since a software (kernel) update a few weeks ago, the screen stays
  black.

  It is very anoying, as I have to reboot after each suspend.
