Edd Grant, just to clarify, 13.10 is End of Life July 17, 2014 as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases . Hence, you are receiving no security updates. Hence, would you like to see via live environment if the issue is resolved via http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ ?

The installation went perfectly however on the reboot the monitor goes in to standby. This is the following sequence on boot: * BIOS Screen shows * Grub menu shows and automatically selects the default option * Ubuntu starts to load, I can see all the services starting up in the console (although it moves so quickly I can't really read much of what is going on ) * Ubuntu load seems to complete, the monitor suddenly goes in to standby Despite the monitor going in to standby the system seems to be running as I can do the following: * login * type sudo shutdown -P now (enter sudo password) * The system shuts down This seems to be the same issue (same hardware, same Ubuntu version) as reported here (unsolved): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2229592 hence raising this as a bug. I'm trying to think how I can get some output from the device so I can troubleshoot this issue. I opted to install openssh during installation and tried to connect a cable to eth0 however eth0 doesn't seem to be requesting an IP from my dhcp server. Is this the default behaviour of Ubuntu server? If I can somehow give this interface an IP then I should be able to SSH to it to get more information. Most grateful for help on this as I'm very keen to get 14.04 running on this machine.
