You have been subscribed to a public bug: Suspend to ram causes the system to crash. The screen goes black but it stays on and it becomes unresponsive. The only way afterwards is to do a hard reset. Problem happens whether you suspend from the menu or from command line or from the System Testing tool. Problem happens before update and even after bringing the system up to date.
