Title: Add iwlwifi firmware monitor support in utopic Status in linux package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: SRU Justification: Impact: These patches do not fix a bug. Instead, they help Intel collect data from devices which are experiencing errors due to bugs in the firmware which will help them fix these bugs. Test Case: I have tested these patches to verify that I did not observe any regressions with the affected hardware and to verify the functionality of the firmware monitor support. Regression Potential: The firmware monitor support defaults to being disabled and is only enabled when the fw_monitor=1 option is passed to iwlwifi, which helps to limit the possibility of regressions under normal use. I have also reviewed and tested the patches without finding any regressions. --- These were introduced in 3.17 and then backported to 3.16 by Intel [1]. They aren't upstream stable material, but since Intel wireless is probably the most widely used wireless hardware among Ubuntu users it makes sense for us to take the patches if they will help Intel fix bugs in their firmware.
