It's a stupid question, but I have to ask: did you do the CVS to a
(V)FAT partition or an ext2 (linux) partition? We've had reports of (more
or less) random problems when d/ling to (V)FAT partitions.
In particular, "missing separator" usually means that make came
across something it wasn't expecting, like a tab when there shouldn't have
been one -- but you probably already know that. Are you using GNU make?
