At one point, I was thinking of the same, but ended up deciding
that the split text/video modes you sometimes saw on old computers
(remember AppleSoft Basic? 4 lines of text at the bottom. Forget the
resolution of the top, though) -- suitably jacked up -- would be more
interesting. That is, why mess around with making a shortcut to a 'run'
command when you can make a shortcut to a full shell? (EG, ALT-R would
change focus to the text section of the display. the ALT/CTRL Fx keys
would switch gfx/text consoles.) I'm not sure how many people would
appreciate it, though :)
