Is that even needed, as this in the end is just relevant for rawhide?

Side note: both the old and the new approach proposed here afaics do not
follow the packaging guidelines anyway: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-
US/packaging-guidelines/Versioning/#_snapshots

Anyway: no strong option, but I'm fine with the git sha being removed from
%release. What imho would be nice is some packaged file that mentioned the git
sha.
