that's the impression i got, but i don't think that's an actual fault
of the book.  in fact, the author makes clear in the preface, under
"Audience", that it's not a beginner-level book for kernel newbies,
but more for folks who already have a good grip on kernel
fundamentals.  so, in that sense, it's perfectly honest about it.
