even if they were, it's unlikely that they'd pre-announce a new
edition of their book. publishers don't typically do that sort of
thing because it would cut into sales of the current edition. they
normally announce a newer edition only when it's almost release time.
in my case, i'd been technical editing LKD3 for a number of months,
but i said nothing about it until the publisher made it public
knowledge.
