That just bypasses the rpm system. I think Nidhi would be better off getting a current rpm and upgrading. Assuming Fedora 12, you can get 1.41 rpms at OBS, but those are not vetted by anyone in particular. http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=Fedora%3A12&p=1&q=e2fsprogs If you're really nervous about someone adding some malicious code or just not doing a good job of packaging the rpm, you can create your own OBS repo and upload a fresh tarball and grab the fedora patches and specfile from the above users repo.
