Not entirely true. Minix started out as a monolithic kernel. Minix 3 shifted
from a monolithic design to micro-kernel design in an effort to prevent
bringing the whole system down just because of a bug in one of the device
drivers. Iit was basically written to serve as reliable, self-healing,
multiserver UNIX clone.
