This isn't really a shell scripting mailing list, that is more a user space program. Here is good guide I used to learn bash which is one common SHELL http://tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/ I also learned a lot of fundamentals of shell scripting from from the O'Reilly book Classic Shell Scripting.
